Justin Masterson, Jed Lowrie, and a whirlwind update

April 27, 2008

Don’t ask me how, but I managed to go to all but two games on the first two homestands at Fenway, and one of the two games I missed was a day we chose to go to Pawtucket instead!  So I have not made the progress I had hoped on my Spring Training photos.  However, I did finally get thumbnail links for everything that’s done on the main page!

So…

Spring Training pages all have thumbs now.  I will shortly caption the minor league pages, as I know those might be the toughest to pick out; if you’re interested, though, you could also check out my posts in the Pics forum at soxprospects, a terrific resource for the Sox farm teams!

I have pages done (or semi-done, since nothing’s finished!) for the Yankees series (April 11, April 12 and April 13), for Jed Lowrie’s Fenway debut on April 18, for games against the Rangers April 20 and April 21, and last but very definitely not least for Justin Masterson’s major league debut against the Angels on April 24.  Some decent ones in the last two Yankee games; the ones from Lowrie’s debut were all exceedingly dark due to camera operator error .  made up for it a bit with Masterson, though I do wish I’d had a slightly better seat!

Next up: the ones from Dave Pauley’s return to Fenway April 22, the PawSox and their ring ceremony, and going back to Spring Training for some nice shots from behind the home plate screen!

March 18: A summary of the Spring Training pages thus far

March 19, 2008

Still editing photos, and probably will be through Opening Day (the domestic version!) but here’s where I stand…

February 28: mostly Justin Masterson (warming up and pitching in the night game) with a couple of Clay Buchholz, Jacoby Ellsbury, etc.

February 29: pups at the Minor League Complex, including Lars Anderson, Will Middlebrooks, Jose Vaquedano, Brock Huntzinger and more.

March 1: there will be photos, but I’m still grappling with the fact that it was a zero birthday.

March 2: highly random thus far.

March 3: Josh Beckett and Michael Bowden pitching in the B game, and at least one great shot of George Kottaras.

March 4: random again. Clay Buchholz throws a side, Ellsbury smiles, Mike Timlin runs, Kyle Snyder laughs, Jon Lester blows a bubble, Craig Hansen pitches, Bobby Kielty looks like Heat Miser… that kind of thing.

March 5: Beckett and Buchholz run, Kyle Snyder shows off his hair, Kielty… well, you’ve got to see it, Julian Tavarez gets pretzel-ified, Kevin Youkilis thinks he’s a pitcher, Lester pitches, and Lowrie scores the tie in the bottom of the ninth… almost.

March 6: in which I shoot the dugout rail almost continually while Masterson, Coco Crisp, and Kielty redefine what it means to smile. Plus the recently departed Doug Mirabelli takes one for the team, Jacoby slides and runs, and D-Lowe shows us the D-Lowe face.

March 7: Mike Bowden throws a side, Clay Buchholz and Justin Masterson take the mound.

March 8: just a few thus far from the sim game, including Kyle Jackson and Dusty Brown.

March 9: back to the minors! Nick Hagadone, Dustin Richardson, Zak Farkes, Jason Place, and many more, plus Lars crushes one…

Lots more to come!

February 18 updates

February 18, 2008

Added some shots of Craig Breslow to the July 22 temp page.

Because clearly what I needed was another blog

February 13, 2008

“In the Spring, a young man’s fancy lightly turns to thoughts of love,” but a crazy photographer’s fancy turns to thoughts of “How on earth am I going to keep track of a new year of photos when I haven’t even finished last year’s?”

Hence, a new blog. The structure of sittingstill will be as follows:

sittingstill.net will, as ever, have all the photos.

sittingstill.mlblogs.com will be where I talk about my photos, or put together a group of one player, or the like–somewhere I can put together photo essays, not just captions.

This blog will be where I post and link to updates: where I can say something like “I’ve added more photos from September 4 to the September 2007 catch-all page, including some really nice ones (if I do say so myself) of Jacoby Ellsbury and Tek.”

My Livejournal will continue to be a mix of baseball and non-baseball topics with a generous seasoning of silliness.

We’ll see how this works.

In two weeks I’ll be in Fort Myers!
